CleanFollow
Free tool, no sign-up

Who doesn't follow me back on Instagram?

Drop your official Instagram data export: the tool compares your followers with the accounts you follow and shows, in seconds, who doesn't follow you back.

100% local analysis. Your files are read in your browser and never sent to any server, not to CleanFollow, not to anyone. No account, no Instagram password. The tool takes no action on your account.

How to download your Instagram followers export

Instagram does not directly show who doesn't follow you back, but Meta lets you download your data. You only need the Followers and following category, which keeps the file small.

  1. In the app or on instagram.com, open your profile, then the menu, then Accounts Center.
  2. Go to Your information and permissions, then Download your information (it may be labeled Export your information).
  3. Create an export, pick your Instagram account, then Export to device.
  4. In Customize information, untick everything except Followers and following.
  5. Choose the date range All time and the JSON format (HTML works too), then start the export.
  6. Meta notifies you when the file is ready: this can take from a few minutes to several hours. Download the ZIP.
  7. Drop the whole ZIP into the tool above. You can also unzip it and drop followers_1.json (plus followers_2.json... if present) with following.json, found in the connections/followers_and_following folder.

Meta's labels sometimes vary slightly with the app version and language.

Free tool or CleanFollow extension?

Free tool (this page)

Compares your lists as of the export date. No connection to Instagram, no action on your account. Ideal to see where you stand and export the list.

CleanFollow extension

Scans live from your Chrome session on desktop, protects mutuals, verified accounts and a whitelist, flags dormant profiles, then unfollows only the accounts you approved, with pauses and caps.

What neither does

Remove followers, reveal who viewed your profile or guarantee more engagement. To remove a follower, use Instagram's own settings.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tool safe for my data?

Yes for your data: the file is read and analyzed in your browser, nothing is sent to a server, no account or Instagram password is required, and the tool takes no action on your Instagram account. If you accept analytics cookies, only anonymous rounded statistics are measured (for example "between 100 and 249 accounts"), never a username.

Why use the official Instagram export?

Instagram does not show a list of accounts that don't follow you back. The official data export, requested from Meta Accounts Center, contains your followers and the accounts you follow: it is the method Meta provides, without giving your password to a third party or automating anything.

How is this different from the CleanFollow extension?

The free tool compares two lists as of your export date and takes no action on your account. The CleanFollow Chrome extension scans live from your Instagram session on desktop, protects mutuals, verified accounts and a whitelist, shows a preview, then unfollows only the accounts you approved, with pauses and caps. It is free for 100 unfollows per month.

Why does an account that follows me appear in the list?

The export is a snapshot. An account can show up by mistake if it changed its username, was deactivated, followed you after the export, or if the date range was not All time. Check the profile before acting.

What are Instagram's limits?

Instagram caps the number of accounts you can follow at 7,500 and may temporarily restrict an account that unfollows too fast or in bulk. No third-party tool can guarantee you will never be restricted: unfollow gradually.

Does the tool tell me who unfollowed me?

No. It compares your followers and following as of the export date. It keeps no history and cannot tell who stopped following you or who viewed your profile.
